On my trip to Antarctica, I had the good fortune to spend hours with Adele penguins. This is one of the scenes I wanted to capture in a painting. Watching them "stack up" before taking the plunge reminded me of my fellow shipmates as we waited, then boldly leapt into the frigid waters of the Antarctic. I think the penguins were better prepared for the water's temperature than we were armed only with bathing suits and a dose of insanity.
