On my first trip to Africa a group of us were with our guide in an open vehicle with raised bench seats - in the dark. As we sat there a male lion starting roaring a bit away to our right. Then another starting in closer to our left. With lions capable of leaping up a good 20 feet the raised bench seat starting feeling very low to the ground. In this painting I wanted to create the sense of danger one feels when one is the prey.
