Originally called the Gay Head Cliffs, these magnificent clay cliffs adorn Aquinnah, the native American name given by the Wampanoag Tribe of Martha’s Vineyard to this part of the island. Aquinnah means “land beneath the hill” and human occupation can be dated back 7,500 - 10,000 years.
